Description: |
A. Philip Randolph, an elder statesman in the labor movement and key organizer of the 1963 march in Washington, was the long-time leader of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters. Randolph’s address merged his commitments to civil rights and to the labor movement. The combined exercise seemed less than the sum of the parts. Note the interesting references to and fear of automation. |
